Erick Chall, Founder & CEO

"Before you read this, I want you to know that I have done all this for you, and anyone else I can help. It is not about me. It is about you, your family, and your friends. The Lord knows we are all on this earth to help each other. This is the best way I can hopefully make a difference."

Erick Chall has a passion for helping people and a have a passion for tennis. He is the founder of Clearwater Tennis Management (CTM), LLC which I started 2006: which professionally manages the tennis programs that are created for members, Clearwater residents and visitors from around the world.

His tennis experience started in high school in 1993 with his first coaching job at the lovely McMullen Tennis Complex as one of the many teaching assistants. He graduated from high school in 1994 then coached Clearwater High School in 1995 as a 19 year old. He ended up coaching the same kids he played with in high school. For Mr. Chall it was a great time. They made it to the district as finalists.

Mr. Chall played some satellite professional tournaments for a couple of years. In 1997, he sustained a major back injury that ended his road of playing in college or professionally. His new journey of becoming a professional tennis coach became his passion.

While learning how to walk again after major back surgery, he performed some of his rehab in a ballet class with a one of the nation's best ballet coaches at Florida State University. Not only did it excel his recovery, he adopted the methodology for learning ballet and used it in his research to develop the best system he could for teaching tennis.

In 1999, Mr. Chall became professionally certified by the U.S.P.T.A. He became the assistant tennis professional at Killearn Country Club in Tallahassee, Florida where he increased the academy from 6 players to over 100. It became the largest tennis summer camp in Tallahassee. Over the next four years, he attended Florida State University for sports management. The combination of applying the knowledge of his studies to teaching tennis allowed him to develop and test his research.

In 2003, Mr. Chall graduated from Florida State University. He was recruited to be a partner of a tennis club with one of his old coaches. Although he had originally planned on furthering his professional tennis career as a player, it quickly took a turn in the direction of becoming a top coach. He became much happier in a coaching role rather than a player. It felt very natural to him. He became the Tennis Director at Seminole Lake Country Club. Unfortunately, after a successful year, the club switched ownership and he believed the new ownership was not going to work for him. It was time for Mr. Chall to start his own academy.

In 2004 he started Chall Tennis Academy. He taught on public the courts in St. Petersburg. In 2005 Chall Tennis Academy spread to 2 sites. He grew to 60-70 kids. While the academy was going great, he was not satisfied with players' ability to translate what they were learning in the academy to their tournament performance. So, he created the Flex Ladder Championships a mandatory match system which provided the pressure we needed to see where his players were at on a competitive level. He was able to make adjustments during the matches thereby helping the kids perform better and quickly improve their U.S.T.A. rankings.

In 2006, he received a call from Advantage Yours owner Kim Cashman. She said the City of Clearwater wanted to have a junior tennis program for their residents. Kim wanted him to move his academy to Clearwater. He knew Kim for many years and grew to understand how amazing she is. Since Clearwater has always been his home town without a second thought he accepted and moved his junior academy to Henery L. McMullen Complex in Clearwater. He had come full circle and was back at home.

In 2008, Kelly who had started started working at McMullen behind the desk part time in September 2008. They started dating the following January. In 2009 they became engaged and in 2010 married. It was the highlight of his life.

In 2012, he realized there was a need to combine the adults and juniors together. The "Clearwater Tennis Family Academy" was launched. Now, all levels and ages can train at the same time and everyone can be finished at the same time. This convenience is perfect for all the busy families with multiple kids. Families can truly take up a sport together and get healthier as a family. We then renamed the Flex Ladder the "Clearwater Tennis Family Club Championships". Families joined and started getting healthier together, while also enjoying competing with their friends.

September 2012 another major event entered his life. Kelly became pregnant and together they had a daughter they named Kathryn. As a gift for their new daughter Kim Cashman bought Kathryn her first tennis racquet. Needless to say he can't wait to get this racquet in her hands. Hoping she picks tennis Mr. Chall's wishes are that she attends his tennis program.

In 2013, he launched the Gold Card Membership. His passion to help people fits perfectly with the Gold Card membership because it allows people to get the top notch academy treatment for very low cost with the much needed nutrition.

Mr. Chall constantly strives to improve his current programs and is always looking to add new ones where needed. He will stop at nothing to be the best.
